Long-Term Care Legislation and Key Policies

Ontario’s long-term care homes are governed by the Fixing Long-Term Care Act, 2021 and Ontario Regulation 246/22. This legislative framework came into force on April 11, 2022.

The legislation establishes requirements intended to support the safety, quality of care, quality of life, and well-being of residents living in long-term care homes across Ontario.
